Hey Jackie
Yes! big shout out for stretching :)
I'd have to agree with your point there, warm up, then stretch. Its so easy to just want to jump in there and GO, but if you want to work out much past 30 or 40 years of age, you better get in the habit of stretching. And don't do it cold :)
From my time in the military, and also playing hockey (older than 35 when I started again!) you just perform so much better if you are well warmed up, then stretch. In fact, stretch between sets. In hockey I would stretch between plays even. It worked for me anyway.
Thanks for your posts! You Rock!

Hey GWNN,
consider doing dynamic stretches before your main workout ...
and passive stretches after your main workout ...
'the experts' have been saying for a while now that passive (static) stretching before your main workout (even warm) makes your muscles weaker and more likely to get injured ...
There's a lot of articles out there on this, but here's a recent one from the NY Times ...

thanks Carlin, good thoughts there.
FightGeek, point well taken, perhaps I'm gonna even take that advice!!! I'll stop with the cold static stretches and start doing some dynamic ones!
thanks again! you rock, as always.
